What is a flat pack garden room?

Garden rooms usually come together one of three ways: an expensive team who build it on site, a self-build kit you put together yourself, or a finished shell that arrives whole, lifted into place by crane, like our standard Hully Pods.

The new Hully Flat Pack is a NEW option, for anyone who wants the affordability of a Hully Pod but struggles with access to their garden. It arrives in sections, and our team assembles it on site, in a single day. No manual, no lost weekend, no borrowing a spirit level off next door, no builders on site for weeks, no mess.
Once it’s up, it’s the full Hully experience: same standing height, same interior finish, same insulated walls for year-round use, same electric hook-up if you want it. The only thing that’s changed is how it gets into your garden.

Access requirements for your Flat Pack Pod

A crane isn’t needed, but the sections are still substantial. Check the route and the space around your planned Pod before choosing your finish.

3ft wide, 8ft high

The access route must be at least 3ft wide and 8ft high, with no harsh 90-degree angles. The largest components are 2.4m wide and can’t be carried through the house or doorways.

Room for our installers

For assembly, the installers need about 1ft of clearance around the Pod on each side. Allow this working space when planning the position next to fences, walls or other garden structures.

Allow for the rear hookup

The hookup on a Flat Pack is on the rear wall, which adds approximately 100–120mm to the depth. If you choose the optional electrics, factor this into the space behind your Pod as well as the assembly clearance.

What’s inside (and outside)

Inside, nothing’s changed. Same tongue and groove pine-lined walls, same standing height, same vinyl flooring choices as the rest of the Hully range.

Outside is where it differs. The floor, front, and back walls are solid fibreglass, the same material we use across the whole range. The sides and roof use metal roof sheeting with a plastisol coating, giving the Pod its corrugated, shelter-like profile, built to take the British weather.

A few things the Flat Pack can’t do:

  • Twin spotlights

The base Flat Pack comes without electrics. Add the mains pack (£280) for a light switch, external hookup, and two sockets, all in the rear wall. Want more? Add extra sockets, upgrade to USB, or fit an Ethernet port.

Why choose a Hully Flat Pack over a standard flat pack kit?

Most flat pack garden rooms hand you the tools. That’s how they keep the price down, but it also means clearing your diary, sourcing a base contractor, and hoping the whole thing goes together straight. A typical self-build takes a long weekend at best, several weeks at worst.

With the Hully Flat Pack, the building is our job, not yours. We deliver the sections and put the Pod together on site. You don’t need to be there with a hammer, just a firm, flat base waiting for us when we arrive.

Usually, it’s a structure that arrives in sections for the buyer or a contractor to assemble on site. The Hully Flat Pack arrives in sections too, but our own team builds it. The flat pack part is about how it’s delivered, not how much work lands on you.

No. Our standard Pods start from £2,995 including delivery and arrive fully assembled by crane. The Flat Pack starts from £4,495 plus delivery and installation, and is designed for gardens a crane can’t reach.

No – that’s the whole point. Our standard Pods are crane-lifted into position as a single finished shell. The Flat Pack arrives in sections and goes together on site, reaching gardens that have never had crane access.

Most likely. The sections are still sizeable, so they need a gate, path, or fence line our team can lift panels over; a standard front door alone won’t cut it. Send us your postcode before ordering and we’ll check access as part of your quote.

Hully Flat Pack Pods start from £4,495 for a Dory (1.2m), £4,995 for a Midi (2m), and £5,495 for a Skipjack (3m). Delivery and installation is added separately based on your distance from Southampton, from £450 for up to 50 miles.
