Plug In and Create: Sian’s Garden Pottery Studio
Sian makes pottery in a green Skipjack Pod in her garden. Before, she worked in a cramped corner of a cold shed. She wanted an insulated space with electricity, and one she can take with her, as the family plans to move in a few years.
Sian’s pottery studio at a glance
- Pod: Skipjack Pod, 3m deep, 2.4m wide and 2.3m high (from £4,595 today)
- Used for: a pottery studio, with shelving for materials and a large work table
- Outside: green exterior with a grey door frame
- Delivery: lifted by crane from the road into the garden, ready to plug in
Why a pod beats a shed for a craft studio
A shed was cold and disorganised. The insulated Skipjack is warm enough to use all year, keeps the mess contained and lets Sian leave work in progress safely, away from garden tools and the cats. Because the Pod is delivered and lifted as one piece, it can move house with her, unlike an extension.
I now have a proper, organised pottery studio where I can leave my works in progress without worrying they’ll get damaged.

Our Customer’s Experience
How did you first hear about Hully Pods?
I first came across Hully Pods through TikTok. I wasn’t actively searching at the time, but the posts caught my eye and made me realise it could be exactly the kind of space I’d been missing.
What challenges/problems necessitated the purchase of a Hully Pod?
I’ve always loved pottery, but up until now I was working out of a corner of our cold shed. It wasn’t ideal – the space was cramped, unorganised, and not really suitable for creative work. I wanted (and honestly needed!) a dedicated area where I could focus, store materials, and not feel like I was constantly battling the cold.
What were you looking for in terms of a garden room solution?
I needed something properly insulated, with electricity, and affordable. Since we’re probably going to move in a few years, building a permanent extension just didn’t make sense financially. I wanted a solution that gave me the space I needed now, but one I could take with me in the future.
What made Hully Pods stand out over other solutions that you researched?
What stood out most was how simple and convenient it was – the Pod arrives fully ready to plug in and start using. No complicated build, no long wait times. On top of that, the price was much more affordable than some of the other options I’d looked at, and knowing I can move it with me when we relocate was a big selling point.
How has your Hully Pod helped you since it arrived?
It’s been a game-changer. I now have a proper, organised pottery studio where I can leave my works in progress without worrying they’ll get damaged by garden tools or the cats. It feels like a professional space, but right in my own garden, and it’s given me a lot more motivation and enjoyment in my hobby.
What plans do you have to use your Hully Pod in the future?
For now, it’s definitely staying as my pottery pod – it keeps all the mess nicely contained and gives me the space I need to grow my skills. Longer-term, who knows? The flexibility is great, so it could evolve into something else down the line if needed.
Is there anything else we should know?
Excellent. The process was smooth from start to finish, and everything was explained really clearly. I’d happily recommend Hully Pods to others.
