Small size garden Pods

Garden pods are an excellent solution to add extra space to your garden, whether as an office, relaxation area, or storage space. With custom designs and insulation options, garden pods offer unique versatility to suit your needs.

You’ll need a firm, level surface of the same dimensions, or larger, as the external dimensions of the Hully Garden pod you have chosen.

Here are the external dimensions of your Pod, and see below for details of the access requirements for delivery of your Hully Pod.

Please note when the doors are open Dory’s total length is 1.9m.

2.3m high, 2.4m wide & 1.2m deep
Dory External Dimensions

Probably not, but you do need a firm, flat and level base for your Pod to sit on. Other Garden Pod owners have used concrete bases, gravel grids, or sleepers to create a level surface for their Pod.

The outline dimensions of the base should be the same as, or greater than, the external dimensions of your Pod.

Please contact us if you have more questions about the base prior to delivery.

Our Garden Pods are 2.3 metres tall and so fall under the common local planning height limit of 2.5 metres.

To ensure a smooth process, we strongly advise that you reach out to your Local Authority’s planning department to confirm that you comply with all local planning requirements before placing your order for the Pod.

Our garden pods are built to order and delivered fully assembled.

We deliver your Pod to you on one of our vehicles and lift it into your property with the Sprinter’s built-in Hiab.

Please ensure that there is unobstructed access to the location where you would like the Pod to be unloaded. Our vehicle requires free passage both into and out of the delivery area.

To ensure the safe off-loading of your Pod, the delivery site must provide a minimum width of four meters and a height clearance of at least seven meters. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the external dimensions of your chosen Pod. If you have any questions regarding delivery and access requirements, please reach out to us. Additionally, a brief video of your delivery site—shot on a mobile phone is perfectly acceptable—can greatly assist us in preparing your driver ahead of delivery day. Don’t hesitate to contact us for further discussion.

Yes, Hully Garden Pods are movable.

Hully Pods are designed to endure the elements and require minimal maintenance. To extend the lifespan of your Pod, consider treating the woodwork and regularly cleaning the exterior with soap and water. See our maintenance guide for more details on how to care for your Hully Pod.

Absolutely. Our external Pods are expertly insulated, ensuring they hold heat effectively even in the colder months. If you plan to use your Pod throughout the year, consider incorporating an additional heat source for optimal comfort. We recommend a dry heating option, such as an electric radiator, rather than a gas heater, which can generate excess moisture and result in condensation inside the Pod.

See our maintenance guide for more information.

You have countless opportunities to customize your Pod to fit your unique lifestyle, needs, and preferences! Beyond selecting a custom color, you can choose from a variety of flooring, doors, windows, and lighting options, among other enhancements. We’re also happy to recommend electric extension leads and additional modifications to enhance your Pod experience.

Whether you choose a compact garden pod or a more spacious option, each one is crafted from sturdy, long-lasting fiberglass, ensuring a lifespan of 20 years or more! Every Skipjack Pod incorporates over 1,000 recycled plastic bottles, while each Dory Pod utilizes more than 300 bottles.

The Hully Pod warranty provides extensive coverage for an array of components. It includes a 20-year warranty for the fibreglass exterior shell and base, safeguarding against water ingress stemming from defects. While minor streaks on the fibreglass are to be expected and do not signify damage, any significant issues must be reported upon receipt to ensure warranty protection. The interior wood linings are covered for one year, accounting for natural expansion and contraction, and maintaining proper ventilation is crucial for the longevity of the wood. Windows and doors are backed by a one-year warranty against defects and seal failures. Vinyl flooring is also guaranteed for one year against ripples and bubbling, but not for tears or dents. Electrical systems come with a three-year warranty for mains and a one-year warranty for solar packs. General workmanship is covered for one year, with the option for customer-guided fixes prior to technician visits. Note that warranties for commercial use differ due to varying usage patterns. To ensure optimal performance, routine maintenance such as seasonal door adjustments, annual wood staining, and regular seal cleaning is recommended. Call-out fees for inspections and repairs start at £150, with scheduling availability subject to demand. The warranty is non-transferable to avoid damage during relocation. More information can be found here.

Hully Pods are handmade to order. The exterior of the Pod is made from multiple layers of fibreglass- a mixture of gel and glass fibres- and is formed in a mould. Once cured, the shell is removed from the mould and your bespoke build is commenced.

Due to its handmade construction, the Pod’s outer surface may have some imperfections and a slightly rough, textured finish. These do not impact the Pod’s waterproofness or its ability to withstand the weather. In fact, many customers have expressed that this adds to the uniqueness of their Pod. We warrant our fibreglass shell for 20 years so we hope this will provide you with peace of mind. Please note due to this manufacturing process, we cannot ensure a glass-like smooth finish.

Hully uses natural softwood to line the inside and exterior arch of your Pod and tanalised decking for the step at the front. The lining and arch wood is untreated, thus allowing you to decorate your Pod if you so wish. We recommend you treat and maintain the exterior decking with a suitable product such as those supplied by Osmo www.osmouk.com.

Wood, like many natural materials, is hygroscopic; it takes on moisture from the surrounding environment. Consequently, the Pod’s wood may expand in winter and contract in summer. We leave a small expansion gap between the wall slats, the internal floor and between the arch and the Pod’s decking step. Internally the expansion gap is covered by a flexible trim. In dry conditions, you may witness a gap between the odd slat in your interior lining where the natural wood has contracted.
This does not impact the Pod’s use and the slats will expand again when the interior atmosphere becomes more humid.

Ensure that the pod is properly ventilated for optimal use. However, should an unusually humid environment develop inside, there is a possibility that some of the wooden slats may start to detach from the wall. In such cases, it’s advisable to lower the humidity levels within the pod, potentially by using a dehumidifier. Once the wood has dried, it should realign itself to its original position.

To prevent condensation from forming, ensure your pod is well-ventilated. If you have a window, you can either fully open it or set it to a slightly open position to enhance airflow.

In the colder months, when the shell of the Pod gets cold, and especially if a warm, damp atmosphere has developed during the use of the pod, condensation can form on the inside of the fibreglass shell and transfer to the wood lining. As a natural material, wood, as well as soft furnishings or other similar items, if left in a damp atmosphere can provide a place for mould to grow.

You’ll see a line of stainless steel bolts or rivets where the sides of your Pod are fixed to the base; the space between these bolts provides some ventilation. We recommend you leave these bolts free of obstructions so that air has the opportunity to circulate.

For your own health and to reduce the risk of condensation, we recommend that you maintain adequate ventilation whilst using your pod and change the air regularly.

How often will depend upon your use of the pod?

All of our garden pods are fully insulated; however, if you would like to enhance the heating, we highly recommend opting for a dry electric heat source, such as an electric radiator, rather than gas. This choice will minimize water vapor production and significantly reduce the risk of condensation.

Our pods are crafted using specialized molds, which means they come in fixed sizes and shapes and cannot be customized. Each mold is engineered to create pods of a specific design, and altering the molds to produce different dimensions is not feasible.
